Grace Glavas: Real Estate Agent

Grace Glavas is a new member of the Treece Team. For Grace, it was a poor real estate experience early on in life that led her to pursue a career helping people find a home where they can make happy memories of their own.

Originally from Ohio, Grace married her childhood sweetheart, Tico, who is from Yugoslavia. The two met roller skating and grew up together. When they got married, they decided to purchase their first home. That first experience in buying a home changed the trajectory of Grace’s work life.

“My biggest drive to get into real estate was that I had a very bad encounter with my first home-buying experience,” said Grace. “I didn’t like how I was treated by the agent that helped us find our very first home. When a person is experiencing their first sale or purchase, you have to educate them and listen to them to find their wants and needs. That’s how you help them find what they are looking for.”

Grace said she also enjoyed going to open houses to look at homes, meet people, and get decorating ideas.

“I had no problem approaching people and I very much enjoyed meeting them,” Grace said. “I wanted to be able to assist people in making their home-buying dreams come true.”

That was 30 years ago. When Grace and her husband left Ohio, they spent a short time in Colorado before relocating to Tucson 25 years ago. A licensed REALTOR since 1994, Grace began her real estate career in resale, working with buyers and sellers. Then she moved on to new home sales for Sombra Homes as a site sales representative where she met Pam Treece and her husband Bob, who had also been a REALTOR.

“They would bring their clients to homes at our site in Oro Valley,” said Grace. “We did a lot of business together, and we built a relationship and friendship over the years. When I had to take time off to take care of family, I ended up asking Pam to sell one of my homes as I was overwhelmed. She also helped me get situated as we were waiting for our new house to be built. She has always been my go to gal and has always been a dear friend.”

After a time away from real estate, a conversation with another friend who wanted to sell her home made Grace decide to get back into the field. She reached out to Pam and told her that she wanted to get back into real estate and learn more of the technical side. Grace went through Long’s training classes so she would be ready to start off in the New Year on the Treece Team.

Grace said her customer service philosophy comes from her initial buying experience: treat others as you want to be treated.

As a self-proclaimed and certified caregiver with a passion for helping people, Grace said one of the things she most likes about working in real estate is talking to people and hearing what it is they are looking for in a new home.

“I care about people and I care for people,” said Grace. “If someone needs help, I want to help them. You have to listen to people and hear what they say because what they want and what they can get isn’t always going to happen but you can help them along the way to reaching their dream goal. Just listen and be patient.”

Family is a major priority in Grace’s life. She loves spending time with her husband of 50 years, her children, and her new grandson who is eight months old and brings her so much joy.

Outside of work, Grace also enjoys cooking and baking. She shares her goodies with family and friends.
