You might not recognize her name, but you’ve heard her voice. Since 1989 Lisa Fischer has toured with the Rolling Stones, singing backup and sometimes sharing lead vocals with Mick Jagger. She toured for 22 years with Luther Vandross, did three tours with Tina Turner, and shared the stage with artists as diverse as Chris Botti and Nine Inch Nails. Her prolific career was highlighted in the 2013 film 20 Feet from Stardom, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 86th Academy Awards.
Ms. Fischer rose to fame in 1991 with her debut album, So Intense, which produced the Grammy Award–winning hit single “How Can I Ease the Pain” (winner of Best Female R&B Performance). After 25 years as a backup singer and session musician across a number of genres (appearing on more than 30 studio albums), she has devoted herself once again to her solo career, touring throughout 2014-15 with Grand Baton and appearing in September 2015 at the Monterey Jazz Festival.
